The Cheshire Federation of Women’s Institutes welcomes you to our website. We are part of the National Federation of Women’s Institutes, the largest voluntary organisation for women, and cover Cheshire, Halton, Warrington and the Wirral. With nearly 200 Women’s Institutes, we offer members opportunities:

to enjoy friendship within their local communities,
to develop their skills and talents through lifelong learning,
to widen their horizons,
to improve the qualities of life in the community
and together, to influence local, national and international affairs.

The Women’s Institute is non-sectarian and non-party political. There are approximately 215,000 members throughout England, Wales, Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.

Margery Hall - Federation Chairman From The Chairman’s Letter

Over the summer the refurbishment of WI House has been completed with the new floor covering in the kitchen. This has all been possible through the generosity of Cross Town WI, and we are very grateful. WI House is the Jewel in our crown and we need to keep it in good condition. This refurbishment will now last us for many years to come.

Why not take advantage of Christmas at White Friars to see our new curtains and store room in the conference room, refurbished toilets, new kitchen flooring and the hall and tea bars beautiful carpets? It all looks very smart and a very big thank you goes to Cross Town.

Our Garden Party at Christleton was such a fun day with the odd shower not managing to dampen our spirits. With knitted cakes and sandwiches, looking good enough to eat, decorated garden hats and lot of garden games, we certainly enjoyed ourselves. May I take this opportunity to thank all those members who made cakes or helped on the day- it was greatly appreciated.

After a relaxing summer I hope you are all refreshed and ready for the autumn programme. We have a variety of courses, walks and concerts for your pleasure. Please check the Diary Dates and apply to WI House with the details and cheques for the events of your choice.

Many members who visit 11 White Friars for the first time are amazed that such a beautiful haven of peace exists for their benefit. This is your house, so do call in when you are in Chester.

Opening Times: 10am - 4pm Tuesday to Thursday inclusive; 10am - 1pm Friday

Coffee, tea, biscuits are always available.
